Shadow Play combines sound, light, shadow theatre, and micro-mapping to tell a story. The cut-out shapes that make up the set serve as a canvas for an animated film that suddenly bursts out of the 2D screen to blend into the physical scenery.
For the 2019 Québec Winter Carnival, Lucion adapted Shadow Play, originally presented at the Museum of Modern Art in Shanghai. This new 6-minute version invites us to discover how Bonhomme, the Carnival’s iconic figure, sees the world!
